What is Wix?
Wix is a website creation tool which aims to allow people without coding skills to create their own website or online store.
It is a hosted solution, which means that it runs on its own servers (“in the cloud”). So you don't have to install any software, and you don't have to buy hosting.
So, as soon as you have a web browser and access to the Internet, you can create, maintain, and promote a Wix website.
Example of a Wix theme designed to appeal to the life coaching market. In general, Wix is a platform meant to serve small businesses or “solopreneurs” rather than large businesses.
Wix User Base/Statistics
Wix is one of the most established website building companies out there. Founded in Israel in 2006, it now has 5,000 employees. It also has a very large user base: the Internet statistics company Builtwith.com estimates that it currently manages 7.8 million websites.
This makes it a bigger deal than many competing platforms, including Squarespace, Jimdo, and Weebly, all of which have a much smaller user base.
The large size of Wix is important because it reduces the risk of the organization collapsing and taking your website with it; it also means that you can expect regular feature updates.
Basic operation
A Wix website can be used to:
- post text, image, and video content
- Blogging
- creating an online store
- Making an appointment
- contact information collection
and more.
However, you'll have to pay to use some of these features, which brings us to talking about Wix pricing.
Let's take a look at that.
History
Wix was founded in 2006 in Tel Aviv, Israel, by Giora Kaplan, Avishai Abrahami (CEO), and Nadav Abrahami, a group of 3 developers who decided to build a platform to help anyone with no coding or design skills to create a website.
When the platform was launched, it created a new trend in the web design industry.
As of October 2018, Wix states that they host 110 million websites in 190 countries. This high user base is not surprising, as Wix is an easy to use website builder with a wealth of features.
Marketplace
The Wix App Market offers over 250 apps that you can add to your website. To give you an idea of what's available, here are some of the apps that were recently listed on the App Market home page:
- Wix forum (create an online community)
- Wix Pro Gallery (show your photos)
- Site Booster (improve your SEO and get more traffic)
- 123 Form Builder (create forms to gather information from your visitors)
Some apps are free, while others are only available to users with a premium subscription. Regardless, all of them are easy to install and require only a few clicks.
The SEO is essential for small business owners: to buy your services or products, potential customers must first be able to find you online. Search the App Market for add-ons from SEO to get an idea of what is available to stimulate your e-commerce.
Themes, Design, and Customization
Wix has over 500 stylish design templates for you to choose from. So you can be sure to find the one that offers the best layout for your website.
Most templates can be used for free, but some may require a subscription at e-commerce. The templates are contemporary, engaging, and feature the latest trends in web design.
Browse by industry or hobby
When you're looking for a theme and design template, Wix allows you to narrow down the choices to specific sectors. For example, there are themes that are suitable for restaurants, photographers, online stores, and many other types of specific websites.
If you're wondering what type of website you can create with Wix, the options are endless, but here are some of the categories you can browse:
- Business
- Online store
- Restaurants and food
- Blogs and forums
- Community and education
- Photography
- Creative arts
- Design
- Events
- Fashion and beauty
Customizing your template is easy
After choosing the desired template, you can customize the page design to your liking. Wix offers templates that have all the elements we're used to on modern web pages. These include login pages, static pages, blog posts, text sections, and social media widgets and buttons.
Changing the design of the model is quite simple. Simply click on any item and you'll see resize handles and move buttons. Grid lines appear when you move objects around the screen, which helps maintain proper alignment.
You will have built-in access to stock images.
Wix has a big advantage over Squarespace and Weebly when it comes to working with photos and videos.
For example, there are millions of stock images you can choose from to create a highly visual website.
The built-in Aviary editor offers comprehensive photo editing capabilities. You can use it to add borders or animation effects around images and even experiment with a variety of resizing behaviors such as stretching, auto-adjusting, cropping, and centering.
When working with videos, you can set them to play automatically when the page loads, loop, or even add a unique video background image for the home page.
For more advanced changes, the site creator Wix allows savvy designers to integrate HTML and Flash code.
Features
Wix offers three main options for creating websites:
- Wix - Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI)
- Wix editor
- 'Velo by Wix' (formerly 'Corvid')
(There is also a new version of Wix that has just been released - “Editor X.” I'll talk about this in more detail shortly).
When you start using Wix, you have the option to choose between an “Editor” site (first option in the screenshot below) and an “ADI” site (second option).
Let's take a look at these different versions of Wix, starting with ADI.
1. Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI)
The aim of Wix ADI is to make it easy to create a website, even if you hate computers and have no computer skills.
Wix ADI creates your website by asking you a few basic questions and collecting all the information available from an online search about your business.
Editing is done through a “drag-and-drop” user interface that automatically layouts pages for you (see the video below for a demonstration). For novices Absolutes When it comes to web design, which just needs something simple, this is probably the best version of Wix to use.
An interesting feature of Wix ADI is that you can later convert sites created with it to the Wix editor format - which means that if you go beyond its capabilities, you can upgrade to one of the more “adult” versions of Wix.
2. Wix editor
Wix Editor is the “standard” version of Wix, and gives you much greater control over the design and functionality of your website than ADI does. Its complexity is roughly equivalent to using Microsoft Word to layout a newsletter - so quite easy to use.
3. Velo by Wix (formerly Corvid)
Velo by Wix” (formerly known as “Corvid by Wix”) is the developer version of Wix.
It provides access to Wix code, databases, and APIs (application programming interfaces) that allow developers to create more personalized Wix custom websites and applications.
4. Responsive
More and more Internet users access the web via smartphones, in some cases exclusively. So mobile-friendliness is Essential for your website.
Wix claims that your website will “look great on every screen thanks to a mobile-friendly version” and makes a big deal about your ability to customize the mobile display of your website.
To create a site on Wix, you need to create distinct designs for your desktop and mobile sites.
However, the Wix CMS uses what is called absolute positioning, which means that web elements are positioned by pixel rather than in relation to the user's screen.
Absolute positioning gives you more flexibility in positioning elements (text, images, forms, etc.), but means that your website won't adapt as well to different screen sizes.
The “Wix Editor” interface uses an “absolute positioning” approach to web site design.
This gives you flexibility, but it's a bit more difficult to create websites that look good on all devices.
The main competitors, such as Shopify or Squarespace, use responsive design, which means that the elements on the page are positioned according to the viewing device screen, and that the design of your site will adapt. automatically to be displayed beautifully on any device.
Google recommends also responsive design, saying that sites that don't use this approach may not perform as well as they could in search results.
The competing Shopify platform uses responsive web design, which means that your site automatically adjusts to be displayed correctly on all devices.
The use of absolute positioning means that, even if Wix claims to provide some responsive elements, you can't build a fully responsive website with Wix.
In practice, this means that you have to pay A LOT of attention to how you position the elements of your website, in order to avoid any display problems on different devices.
5. Wix Editor X
Wix recently released a new edition of its platform, called”Editor X“. It is important to note that the latter makes it possible to build responsive websites.
It's currently aimed at agencies and developers, but we hope that some of the mobile-friendly features it offers will soon appear in other versions of Wix.
6. Access to the code and export of the website
Wix does not allow you to access your site code, to modify or access CSS files, or to export your site to another provider.
It is possible to bypass exporting your site by copying and pasting the content of your site into another platform - which is good for small and medium-sized sites, but not so good for large sites.
You can However, export products - up to 5,000 - as long as they are physical products.
(We'll be back to products and e-commerce soon.)
7. Multilingual
If you want to create a site in lots of different languages, Wix may be right for you. It gives you dedicated tools to create versions of your website in multiple languages (provided you use Wix Editor - Wix ADI does not support translations).
To create a multilingual website in Wix, you need to add the aptly named (and free) “Wix Multilingual” application to your site. Once you have completed this step, you can create different language versions of your website - more than 180 - through manual translations or automatically using the Google Translate service.
However, you should know that not all Wix applications support translation. If you rely on a large number of them, you may see parts of your site appear in the wrong language. Examples of applications whose content cannot be translated include Wix reservations, the Wix forum, Wix hotels, the Wix member area, Wix restaurants, and the Wix music player.
But overall, Wix offers a reasonably good (and cost-effective) way to present your site content in a large number of different languages.
8. Blog with Wix
Publishing quality blog posts is an essential way to drive traffic to your website (and sales from it).
How does Wix position itself in this regard?
Wix's built-in blogging tool isn't bad compared to some of its competitors: it offers auto-save and version history features, for example, which not all similar platforms do, and it allows you to use both categories and tags.
Unlike some competing products, Wix's blog feature comes with auto-save and version history features.
However, Wix doesn't allow you to export your blog posts very easily (there's no dedicated export option and you may need to use a workaround involving RSS feeds to get your blog content out of the platform).
Basically, Wix is perfect for a blog of basis, but if I was looking for a platform to create a professional blog, I would look elsewhere (and most likely on the side of WordPress).
So far, in this Wix review, we've focused primarily on visuals and content management.
9. Email marketing
Wix offers you a wide range of form types that allow your visitors to send you a message or provide contact information. You can use the templates provided to capture contact information, requests, comments, donations, and more.
Wix also allows you to install a variety of different form applications that offer more features, including pop-ups, autoresponders, and integrations with popular email marketing applications.
Contact data entered on your Wix site is automatically added to your site's “contact list”. You can also import contacts or add them manually to this list.
An interesting feature of Wix is integrated email marketing, which is not yet available to all of its major competitors.
Wix allows you to send three newsletters per month to a maximum of 5,000 email addresses. It's actually quite generous — not many email marketing apps offer you this kind of free functionality.
If you want to do more sophisticated email marketing with Wix, you need to buy the Ascend by Wix suite. This allows you to deliver a greater number of emails per month (between 9,500 and 1,000,000) and to use a variety of automations - emails that are triggered in a variety of ways by actions taken by visitors to a Wix site (shopping, filling out forms, live chat, etc.)
Curiously, the prices aren't publicly available; you need to sign in to your Wix account to access the costs. During our Wix tests, we saw the following prices for Ascend:
Price per month:
- Gratuit : $0 - 3 campaigns, 5,000 emails per month
- Base :$10 - 5 campaigns, 9,500 emails per month
- Professional : $24 - 20 campaigns, 50,000 emails per month
- Unlimited : $49 - unlimited campaigns, 1 million emails per month
It's worth pointing out that, based on these prices, the Ascend “unlimited” plan is particularly generous — you'll be hard-pressed to find a standalone email marketing tool that lets you send 1 million emails for just $49 per month.
You can also connect Wix to an external email marketing tool provider (for example GetResponse, AWeber, MailChimp, MailerLite, etc.) by adding an HTML block to your website.
10. SEO and Data Analysis
Wix SEO tools
Wix's search engine optimization features are generally good - the platform allows you to easily perform key search engine optimization tasks, including:
- adding alt text
- add and edit meta descriptions
- changing page URLs
- customizing robots.txt files
- create 301 redirects.
The platform also integrates seamlessly with Google Search Console and Google My Business, allowing you to quickly get your site indexed by Google and easily appear on maps.
Wix's “SEO Wiz” tool (shown below) is an SEO feature that may be of particular interest to those new to the field. It takes you through the key steps in optimizing your website for search engines, helping you update your page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, and more.
If you have no idea what all of these SEO terms are, don't worry: Wix's SEO Wiz explains what you're doing, and more importantly, why.
If you have a Wix premium plan, SEO Wiz can also help you register your site in the Google Search Console.
However, there's one issue to be aware of - and one we've already covered: displaying mobile versions of Wix sites.
As I said above, Wix creates distinct views of your site for desktops and mobile phones, instead of using responsive design. Responsive design, which consists in using a single model whose size automatically adapts to the device on which it is displayed, is preferred by Google to the “absolute positioning” approach of Wix.
Despite this omission, John Mueller, a trend analyst for webmasters at Google, said that Wix sites “working well” in search results. It's important to remember that the performance of Wix sites in the search results won't depend. exclusively technical referencing.
Google will also be taken into account:
- The keyword research that you did for your Wix site (see our Semrush review, our Ahrefs vs Semrush comparison or our Article Moz vs Semrush for more information on this subject).
- the quality of the content of the site
- the number of quality links pointing to your site.
What about Wix and Core Web Vitals?
The “Core Web Vitals” are a new set of goals from Google concerning the speed, responsiveness, and visual stability of a website. Sites that respect them may receive preferential treatment in Google's search results.
Like other major hosted site builders, Wix wasn't very good at the start, but improvements have since been made to the platform and seem to make a difference.
As a Wix user, you'll need to take a number of steps to help your site meet Core Web Vitals goals (this is usually about formatting images in a certain way and not abusing web fonts).
To help you out, Wix has created a video guide on What you need to do to improve your website's Core Web Vitals scores.
11. Conversion analysis and tracking
Wix offers good support for analytics tools, providing built-in integrations for:
- Google Analytics
- Google AdWords
- Google tag manager
- Facebook pixel
- Yandex Metrica.
You can use Google Tag Manager to implement any other third-party code or pixels, or add custom code directly to your Wix site to track conversions.
An integrated analysis tool is also provided by the platform.
E-commerce Features
You need to have a Wix Business Basic plan ($27 per month) or higher to sell products on your Wix site.
If that's the case, you'll find that the platform does a great job of making e-commerce accessible and “not scary” for entrepreneurs trying their hand at selling online for the first time.
Add products to Wix
Getting started is quick and easy: just enter your product details, set up payment options, and off you go.
1. Basic e-commerce functionality
Wix offers a reasonably good range of e-commerce features for small and medium-sized businesses.
The platform allows you to:
- sell an unlimited number of products (digital or physical)
- allow users to filter and sort your products
- manage your store from your phone, by using the “Wix Owner” mobile application.
- enter tracking information into your store orders
- use an abandoned cart backup tool (it allows you to automatically contact people who leave your site during a purchase - usually with a discount code or other incentive to complete their transaction)
- facilitate dropshipping (using applications like Modalyst, Spocket and Syncee)
- provide customers with real-time shipping calculations (Brazil and US only)
- track profit margins accurately by allowing you to add “cost of goods” information for each product.
However, not all of these features are available on the cheapest Wix e-commerce plan (“Business Basic”) — and you'll likely need to upgrade to a “Business Unlimited” or “Business VIP” plan to get the most out of them.
Let's zoom in on a few key e-commerce features:
2. Selling physical products
Wix allows you to sell an unlimited number of physical products, which can come in 6 options (size, color, material, etc.) and up to 1,000 variants.
(Variants are combinations of product options - a large blue suede shoe would be one variation, a small red leather shoe would be another, etc.)
Add product options in Wix
These limits compare favourably with competing solutions. Shopify, for example, limits you to 3 product options and 100 product variants; Squarespace limits you to 6 product options and 250 variants.
With Wix, you can import 5,000 products at a time via CSV, up to a total of 50,000 products.
3. Selling digital products
Wix makes it particularly easy to sell digital products: a beginner can create a website and start selling digital products in about an hour.
The platform offers integrated functionality allowing your customers to download their products, and sends automatic emails to acknowledge purchases.
Setting up digital products in Wix
And, as mentioned above, Wix is a useful tool for selling or renting video content.
The digital (zipped) file limit is 1GB, which isn't that bad compared to the limits imposed by Squarespace and BigCommerce (whose limits are 300MB and 512MB respectively), but it's not as generous as Shopify, which allows you to sell files up to 5GB in size.
However, it's worth noting that you can't export digital goods from a Wix store or use product options and variants to sell them. You can't import them in bulk either.
4. Taxes and shipping costs
Wix offers fairly flexible tax and shipping options. You can set the tax by region, which may be necessary to comply with the various tax rules of American states and Canadian provinces, or to take care of the TVA MOSS (VAT Mini One Stop Shop) when you sell digital products to European customers.
Automated tax calculation is now available in Wix as well, as long as you have a Business Unlimited plan or higher. However, ungenerous limits apply: 100 transactions on “Business Unlimited” and 500 on “Business VIP”, which can cause problems if you have a high number of monthly sales.
The automated tax limits in Wix are currently ungenerous.
You can also set shipping rates by region, and set up rules to calculate shipping costs based on weight or price, as well as flat rates and store pickup.
5. Points of sale (POS)
The point of sale allows you to use Wix to sell not only online but also in physical locations, and to sync your inventory at the same time (i.e. if you sell a product in a physical location, your inventory levels will be updated accordingly in the back end of your online store).
There are three main ways to use POS in Wix.
If you are based in the United States, you can use the “Wix Owner” mobile application in conjunction with a card reader to accept payment for your products in physical locations.
However, this option has significant limitations: the “Wix Owner” application does not allow you to do this:
- offer refunds
- Collect tax
- sell subscriptions
- change the payment total
You can also use a third-party POS system in conjunction with your Wix store - the options available are Square or SumUp.
Square is supported by Wix for users in Australia, Canada, Falkland Islands, France, Ireland, Japan, United Kingdom, and United States for users in Australia, Canada, Canada, Falkland Islands, France, Ireland, Japan, United Kingdom, and United States.
SumUp is supported for Wix users in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Cyprus, Cyprus, France, France, Germany, Germany, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Netherlands, Netherlands, Poland, Poland, Netherlands, Poland, Poland, Netherlands, Poland, Poland, Poland, Poland, Poland, Poland, Slovakia, Cyprus, Cyprus, Cyprus, Cyprus, France, Cyprus, France, Cyprus, France, Cyprus, France, France, Germany, France, Germany, France, Germany, France, France, France, Germany, France, France, France, France, Germany, Italy,
Depending on what country you live in, you can now use Square as a point of sale system for Wix.
And finally, you can use Wix's new integrated point of sale system, “Wix Point of Sale.”
Designed to compete with Shopify's “ready-to-use” point of sale platform, it aims to “unify” online and in-person selling through Wix.
Thus, Wix Point of Sale offers users a wide range of hardware (including not only card readers but also scanners, receipt printers, etc.) and integrates very closely with the Wix online interface.
You won't have to pay extra to use Wix's point of sale features, but you'll need to buy hardware to make them work. A complete Wix POS hardware setup including a tablet, card reader, receipt printer, cash drawer, and barcode scanner currently costs $850.
The new Wix point of sale system
The key thing to note about Wix POS is that it's currently only available to “select users” in the United States and Canada.
6. Selling in multiple currencies
As long as you're on a Business Unlimited or Business VIP plan, and you're not using Wix ADI, the platform allows you to display prices in various currencies via a currency converter dropdown menu (image below).
However, it is important to note that store visitors cannot yet pay for their purchases in their own currency.
This is important because the checkout page is a crucial part of the sales process, and displaying a non-local currency at this point can discourage people from completing a purchase.
Wix allows you to show prices in local currencies, but that doesn't really replace a full multi-currency checkout process.
So, if selling multi-currency is an important feature for you, it's best to go with BigCommerce or Shopify, both of which offer much better multi-currency features.
7. Dropshipping
The Dropshipping is a business model in which you don't manufacture, buy, or stock any products. You take orders from an online store and send them to a supplier to be fulfilled (who will then charge you for this service).
8. Payment gateways and fees
A payment gateway is software that processes transactions on your online store.
Wix works with a large number of third-party payment gateways. The options vary depending on your location, but in total, around 85 are available, including big names like Paypal, Stripe, Square, and Worldpay.
Wix's payment gateway offering is slightly less impressive than its rival's Shopify (which works with over 100 payment gateway options), but it's much more extensive than Squarespace's (Squarespace only integrates two - Stripe and PayPal).
It is also possible to use Wix's integrated payment gateway, which is currently available in the following countries/currencies:
- Austria (EUR)
- Belgium (EUR)
- Brazil (BRL)
- Canada (CAD)
- Finland (EUR)
- Germany (EUR)
- Ireland (EUR)
- Italy (EUR)
- Lithuania (EUR)
- Netherlands (EUR)
- Portugal (EUR)
- Spain (EUR)
- Switzerland (CHF)
- United Kingdom (GBP)
- United States (USD)
As for transaction fees for Wix Payments, they are as follows:
- European Union: 1.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 EUR
- Switzerland: 2.3% of the transaction amount + 0.30 CHF
- United Kingdom: 2.1% of the transaction amount + 0.20 GBP
- USA: 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD
- Canada: 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 CAD
Integrations
Wix has an application store - its “App Market” - that contains over 300 applications, some created by Wix and others by third parties.
The App Market is easy to use and gives you access to a lot of additional features for your website, including online chat, pop-ups, reviews and ratings, social media integrations, and calendars.
The Wix app market
Another way to add functionality from third-party applications is to use an HTML block to insert a widget from one of these applications.
Using Wix's “Embed” Option to Add HTML Widgets to a Website
The range of integrations in Wix's app marketplace is less impressive than that of other website building tools (Shopify, for example, has around 8,000 apps and BigCommerce has around 1,200), but you'll still find a decent selection of integrations and add-ons.
RGPD compliance
In light of relatively recent EU laws On the GDPR, website owners now need to take numerous steps to ensure that they properly protect the privacy of customers and visitors in the EU.
Failure to comply with these rules results in severe financial penalties (so much so that it is a good idea to consult a lawyer to find out what to do). Even if your business is not based in the EU, you need to comply with the regulations if your website targets users in the EU.
Based on my understanding of the GDPR rules, the top priorities for future Wix store owners are:
- provide adequate privacy policy and cookie notices
- process and store data securely
- obtain the explicit consent of the persons on the mailing lists to send them electronic newsletters.
- provide a way to refuse cookies before they are used or to revoke consent to their use at a later date
Many hosted solutions like Wix make it fairly easy for you to meet the first three requirements, but often don't give you the tools you need to properly manage cookie consent.
However, unlike many of its competitors, Wix manages cookie consent reasonably well - a built-in cookie consent banner allows you to block cookies for a number of popular marketing products before they are executed.
Unlike several competing solutions, Wix offers a fairly decent cookie banner that can comply with GDPR requirements.
These include cookies from Hubspot, applications created by POWr, and tracking cookies from Facebook Ads, Google Analytics, and Google Ads.
The Wix cookie banner in action
However, you may have trouble complying with the GDPR if your cookie comes from:
- social tools added from the Wix “Add” panel
- a third-party application from the Wix application market
- custom code.
Security
One of the biggest benefits of using Wix is the fact that, aside from basic password precautions, you don't have to worry about security — security is fully taken care of for you, and you don't have to worry about complicated technical features.
This focus on security is especially important if you're running an e-commerce site, because The cost of a site outage in this context can be extremely high.
On the other hand, if you use a self-hosted platform like WordPress, you or your developer will not only need to have a good knowledge of security issues, but also configure your site manually to ensure that it is robust in this regard.
Wix provides a lot of security features as part of your subscription, but the most important ones include:
- An SSL certificate - it allows visitors to your site to establish an encrypted connection between your website and their browser, which means that all information that a user provides to you through your site (forms to fill out, etc.) remains secure.
- PCI compliance - so you can process credit card transactions securely.
- Two-factor authentication - it allows you to protect your account not only with a password, but also with another verification method (SMS, email, or authentication app).
- Automatic recovery - if Wix detects unusual activity in a particular region, it proactively moves user traffic to the nearest stable region, which means your site is much less likely to experience downtime.
In short, Wix's security features are comprehensive and, thanks to its fully managed infrastructure, the platform is extremely reliable. In short, how Wix takes care of all security and reliability issues on your behalf is one of the top reasons to consider using this platform.
Customer Support
Wix offers channels ofhelps and comprehensive support that are aimed at customers and anyone who wants to know more about its site creator. While there is currently no live chat support, you can get in touch with a Wix customer service representative by phone or email.
Wix offers MeetUps in cities around the world. Wix users in New York can use their free co-working space called Wix Lounge.
If you have a question, you can also post it on the Wix forum or look for answers on the Help Center, where there are numerous FAQ sections and help articles.
Alternatives to Wix
Wix is one of the most well known site builders, but it's not the only one! There are a lot of very interesting alternatives out there.
If you're looking to create a site that's all about content, Squarespace is a great alternative to Wix (check out our Squarespace reviews).
1. BigCommerce
If you are primarily interested in selling online, BigCommerce likely to meet your needs much better than Wix.
Check out our BigCommerce vs Shopify in-depth review for more details, or our BigCommerce review.
2. Shopify

Pricing
The Wix website builder offers four types of plans: a basic plan, a personal plan, a startup plan, and a plan e-commerce.
Connection domain
This is the cheapest and most basic Wix premium plan. The storage remains the same as in the free version of the Wix site builder, but users get up to 1GB of bandwidth. Remember, though, that the Connect Domain plan doesn't remove Wix ads, which automatically appear on the side and bottom of your website.
Combo
The Wix site builder Combo plan offers additional features like $75 credits to spend on Google AdWords, a custom favicon, and a free domain name for one year. Storage and bandwidth are increased to 3GB and 2GB respectively.
Unlimited
With the Wix unlimited site creation plan, you get unlimited bandwidth and up to 10GB of storage. As such, this plan is a great choice for entrepreneurs and freelancers looking for a site creator to present their wallets.
Users also get all the features of the previous plan, plus applications for creating forms and strengthening the site.
E-commerce
If you want to create an online store, this is the best Wix plan to choose. With the Wix site builder subscription e-commerce, users have access to all of the features offered in the lower-level plans, plus the addition of an online store builder.
Bandwidth and storage space are also increased to 10GB and 20GB respectively, which is suitable for most medium to large e-commerce sites.

More specifically, Wix asks you questions, and you answer them. Then, Wix ADI consults its library of design elements and content to create the “unique, dynamic, and robust website” that best fits your brand and business needs. Wix easily takes care of design decisions you don't want to make.
From there, you can further customize your site or ship it as is.
Are the designs responsive?
Wix offers templates that provide a good browsing experience on mobile devices. Les templates aren't exactly designed to be responsive to every device, but instead provide a separate version of the mobile website for visitors using smartphones and tablets.
Wix even allows site owners to customize templates for mobile. If you're not happy with how the mobile site looks, you can hide items that you don't want to appear. Additionally, Wix offers a mobile “action bar” that allows visitors to call or email you directly from their mobile device.
Final Verdict
It's not free of flaws, but overall, Wix is a well-designed product that allows a small business with a low budget to create a website with lots of features. Its main advantage is the value for money it offers: for a relatively low monthly cost, you can create a site with an online store, a blog, an email marketing system, galleries, an appointment scheduling system, and much more.
The platform is reasonably easy to use - there are lots of well-designed wizards, support tools, training videos, and help files that provide a very effective grip for even the most nervous users.
As for the cons, the fact that Wix doesn't create responsive sites is probably my biggest concern. This can mean that building your site with Wix is a bit more difficult than with other platforms, and it also makes things a bit less effective from an SEO perspective (as we saw earlier, Google prefers responsive sites).
Another negative aspect of Wix is that it's hard to change your mind - you'll have to stick to the template you chose when creating your site, or rebuild it entirely.
And while Wix gives you a way to easily create a decent online store, you can only sell your products in one currency.
So should you build your website with Wix?
Ultimately, Wix is a good choice for small business owners or individuals who want to quickly create an engaging website with lots of useful features without spending a lot of money. If you find yourself in this category, you'll be really happy with the range of “out of the box” features that Wix offers.
It is also a relatively affordable and simple solution for create an e-commerce site.
Professional online retailers would probably benefit from considering solutions like Shopify or BigCommerce, as the e-commerce functions of these platforms are considerably more powerful.
