Why use this Growth Hack?

Today, many meetings continue to take place remotely behind computers.

On LinkedIn, this can be done through groups.

Take this opportunity to use these online communities to your advantage to generate new leads.

Good news, approaching them is all the easier when you have a common interest and connection.

How do you do this Growth Hack?

If you already have an account on Phantombuster you can skip the next 2 steps.

1. Open an account on Phantombuster

NOTE: If you want more details, you can consult the detailed sheet or Open an account by clicking here

2. Download the Phantombuster expansion

The Chrome Extension allows you to automatically fill session cookies on Phantombuster without you having to open developer options in your favorite browser (the extension is available for all recent web browsers: Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Edge)

LINK: Get the Phantombuster Chrome Extension

In this way, during the cookie selection stage, even if you do not know what it is, you will only have to click on it so as not to worry about it.

3. Find the groups you are interested in

  • Go to LinkedIn search and type in any keyword to find your audience, for example Growth Hacking France
  • Filter by groups
  • You should see a list of all the groups that match your search criteria:

When looking for groups, the more specialized the better.

With Phantombuster, you can only reach the first 2500 people, so you might as well try to find a group of under 2500 people.

In addition, groups with a large number of people are often poorly managed and the quality of people who are likely to become your customers is therefore very low.

4. Join a group

Click on the group you like and ask to join it:

You can only collect group data using Phantombuster once you are a member of the group. It is therefore important to join them first.

Once you have been accepted into the group, the layout will look like this:

💡 Quick tip: if you want to find groups you're already a part of, go here: Linkedin groups

If you click on “See All” you can see all the members of the group and you can manually, one by one, start messaging and connecting with them.

However, I don't have time to message each person individually and then I want to automate this process.

That's where Phantombuster comes in.

Go to Phantombuster, click on Phantoms then choose LinkedIn:

Phantombuster LinkedIn

In the search on the left, type “Group” and click on “Use this Phantom” for LinkedIn group members:

5. Setting up the Phantom

You should have already installed the Chrome plugin (in step 2) and the next step is to click on “Connect to LinkedIn” to automatically fill in your LinkedIn session cookie:

Phantombuster Linkedin Group

Click “Save” and the next step is to choose the group you want to scrape.

Go back to LinkedIn and copy the URL of the group you are already a member of:

Copy this URL into the empty “Groups to scrape” field:

You don't need to change the spreadsheet settings because you're getting the link directly instead of a Google document with lots of links.

So the next step is to click on “Save” and add the behavior parameters:

Leave the top section empty because you only get one group.

I advise you to only collect data from 500 people at a time so as not to overload your LinkedIn account and alert detection robots.

Choose to remove any duplicate profiles, then name the file. I usually call it the same name as the LinkedIn group to keep the data tidy (and easy for me). Then click on “Save.”

The next step is to choose between manual and automatic modes for data collection:

For this type of process, I often recommend doing it manually.

But you can find out more here about how to use the automatic Phantombuster process.

Click “Save” and you are ready to go.

6. Start the Phantom

Click on “Launch” and watch the magic happen:

Phantombuster linkedin launch

Once you click on “Launch”, you will see your account syncing with Linkedin, connecting to the group, and extracting the data:

From there, you can download your CSV and import the data directly into Prospect Labs to launch a campaign. First download the CSV:

Phantombuster Linkedin csv

If you want to preview the data to make sure it's correct instead of opening it, go to the menu:

And you will be able to see what it looks like:

Now we're going to copy the data from this CSV file and import it into Google Sheet.

7. Get data in Google Sheet

Copy the button in the middle of the image below:

Then now go to Google Sheet to retrieve this data.

We're going to use a very useful Google Sheet import function to “connect” the Phantombuster CSV data to our Google Sheet.

Once completed, Google Sheet will automatically import data into your sheet like this:

Ok but what to do with it now?

I recommend using this data for automation campaigns on LinkedIn:

  • You will not have the risk of ending up in a SPAM box and degrading the authority of your email sending domain.
  • The process is easily automatable
  • Your chances of getting emails from contacts are 10 times greater when the person is part of your first-level relationships: make sure to invite these people manually or with tools beforehand.

This strategy worked surprisingly well for me.

Good luck!
