When you exceed the magic number of 500 followers, LinkedIn simply adds a “500+ Connections” piece of text next to your name.
A casual observer of your profile has no way of knowing how many connections and followers you actually have. So search engine marketing here is about changing your profile tag, which is so important, to something like this:
“Your Job Title | 97K Followers”
(Always use odd numbers, for whatever reason they give better results).
I guarantee that no one will want to validate your request (you can check by digging into the settings) but they won't because they will be too impressed and want to connect with you.
In fact, many people will send you connection requests directly only when they see this vanity metric.
Why would they want to connect with you more? Because connecting with someone who feels like they have a huge network also increases their reach.
