Humanize your Emails 💌 with Lower Case Subjects and Multiply Your Response Rates 📈

Use these simple tips in your emails to humanize them and improve the success rates of your cold emails or marketing emails

How to do this Growth Hack and what can it do for you?

I have sent literally millions of emails since I started in retail and then in digital marketing.

Simplicity is key.

Expected results of this Growth Hack

  • Type of marketing tactic: High return on investment tactic
  • Expected result: Increase the opening rate of your emails

Why do this Growth Hack?

I'm going to explain this hack by talking about a number of mini-hacks that have worked for me over the years and that will help you improve the goals you set for yourself with your emails.

Step by step approach:

1. Avoid overly promotional models

Avoid including your logo, images, and too many links in your emails.

Why? Because they are negative signals for spam filters that indicate that you are sending promotional emails.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with sending professional emails, but the aim is to eliminate any (potentially) negative signals.

Basically avoid the “beautiful” templates of the tools provided by email marketing software and prefer simple versions.

Think of it this way: Internet service providers will pay more attention to emails that contain images, links, and other tell-tale signs that commercial emails tend to present.

We want our cold email to look natural, friendly, and look like it was sent by someone the recipient knows.

There are some “rules” you should follow when sending emails to get a high rate of receipt.

The two most important criteria for sending an email are the following.

2. Humanize your emails

First, always use a username in the first place, for example, stephen@exemple.com will do a lot better than info@example.com. Stephen is a person while “info” is a generic, unnamed, and impersonal name. It seems obvious but many forget it.

Also, be sure to include a profile photo in your email (which Gmail allows you to do), which will increase the personalization of your email.

Try to keep the subject line short, kind, curious, and - importantly - keep it lowercase.

Why is this last tip of lowercase subject fields important?

When you receive an email from a friend, is the subject capitalized?

“Shall we meet for a drink after work?”

No, it's not.

You see, the more friendly, personal, and “human” you make your email approach, the more successful you will be in ensuring that your Cold emails be received and read.

I know that text-only emails of 100 to 150 words with a (very) short subject line work best.

3. Avoid URLs in your (cold) emails

Why not include a URL in your offer?

I would say, of course, try, but for even greater potential success in the long run, I would advise not including URLs and instead try to get your recipients to reply to your message for more information.

Why?

Indeed, it creates positive signals that boost your credibility and ranking with ISPs, so your inbox can only get better.

Replying to an email is of course a positive signal.

Plus, it also encourages you to learn more about your audience and target market.

By receiving an email in return for your newsletter, you will learn about the hopes, fears, and aspirations of your audience and can adapt your message accordingly.

Try and see!
