As already mentioned, Moosend's pricing options are extremely simple. You have a 30-day free trial, a Pro plan that starts at $9/month for 500 subscribers, and an enterprise solution that is available upon request as expected.

Compared to its most popular alternatives, you'll save a lot of money while still getting the features you need. But enough of the chatter, let's look at the plans in more detail.

1. Moosend free trial

(30 days, no credit card required)

The advantage of the Moosend free trial is that all features are available to you for 30 days without any restrictions. Unlike many freemium models, you have 30 days to experience Moosend at your leisure before making the decision to make a financial commitment.

The free plan doesn't require attaching a credit card, so you won't be billed out of the blue. You can also send an unlimited number of emails - not that you're using them excessively since you're just trying Moosend for 30 days, but it's nice not to be subject to heavy limitations. As expected, you can try automated workflows - set up triggers and conditions, let Moosend do the work for you, and then track the results.

However, you do have one restriction: the number of landing pages and forms you can create and set up. During the free trial, you're limited to one landing page and one form, which is enough to try out a tool and see please.

2. Moosend Pro Plan

In general, email marketing tools base their pricing on one of these factors - either the number of subscribers you have or the number of emails you're going to send in a month. Moosend charges according to the number of subscribers.

In the pro version, which is essentially the only option available if you're not interested in their business solution, you get the following features:

  • Automated workflows
  • Landing pages/forms
  • SMTP server

Again, you get the same unlimited emails and workflows. But here, you can create as many landing pages and forms as you want. If you have multiple products or if you use an e-commerce platform, this solution is ideal for your advertising and lead generation.

In the Moosend Enterprise plan, you can expect to get all the features available in the Pro plan and a few additions. Primarily, a dedicated account manager and priority support. Customer Support

You know how that goes. You are in great shape, you are happy, and the world seems bright. And then something happens that drains a little bit of your soul. Maybe your cats have made a huge mess with your new plants, or you've just learned that they're going to “reboot” your favorite movie franchise.

The day is not completely ruined, and you are doing well. Nobody died... but the sparkle in your eyes is gone.

I'm sorry to say that the Moosend support experience was that little something. Seriously, this review was meant to be at the top of the charts, up to this point.

On paper at least, Moosend does a lot of things well. They have a large help/FAQ center with tons of knowledge, and a blog full of helpful tutorials and guides. There are even webinars.

If you need to talk to someone, you have an email form on the website, a combined chat and email system via Intercom, and telephone support starting with the Pro plan.

None of these contact methods have schedules, but I did manage to contact the team at some odd hours of the day.

And that's fine... until it's time to talk to people.

So I went to the “Contact Us” page and filled out the form. I wanted to know, “Do email and landing page editors support RTL languages such as Hebrew and Arabic?”

I never received a response and had to find the solution myself, by simple trial and error. Not getting a response at all is... not great. I don't think I need to explain it any further.

Live chat/Email

The live chat is Better option to talk to support team members. Tip for desktop/laptop users: The live chat window was only available on the help site until I deactivated my ad blocker. Then I could see it all over Moosend.

My question was, “The pricing page says that the Pro plan comes with phone support. Where can I find the corresponding number?”

I received a response within a few minutes, with the appropriate phone number. I am not thrilled that, even while logged in, as a Pro plan customer, this number was not given to me automatically.

Later, when I cancelled my Moosend account, the support team responded to my request just as quickly and took the necessary steps. Ten out of ten, no complaints here.

Phone

When I called the hotline, I asked about refund policies and affiliate marketing. I asked these questions because I found that these items were a bit difficult to find and not clearly laid out.

The good news is that the support team responded quickly. But then I asked “Is this support for Moosend?” The answer was “Yes and no.” Which I did not find promising.

The agent answered my questions but actually reprimanded me by saying, “It's all on the website, you know?” He wasn't mean, but he clearly felt like I was wasting his time.

One thing I know from my experience as a missionary, in sales, and in limited support roles is this: no matter how stupid you think the customer is, as long as they are polite, you Don't Must never try to make him feel stupid. Make him happy. You are helping him.

I wouldn't ask if the information I need was easily available.

So yes, this phone call seriously undermines the evaluation score, as does the lack of response to the electronic form. I got a response, but I was also treated condescendingly, and I don't need that in my life.

We mentioned that there are more email marketing tools out there than there's a need for them. So this Moosend review would not be complete if we didn't give you a correct comparison between Moosend and its extremely well known alternatives.

All marketing experts start their email marketing activities using at least one of these tools.

Of course Moosend already seems to be a great solution. But let's see how it compares to the big players in the market, so you can confidently decide which solution to adopt.

1. Mailchimp

Unless you've lived under a rock since 2001, you've used or at least heard of Mailchimp.

Mailchimp is by far one of the most popular email marketing tools ever created. Not only has it been around for a long time, but it has also won the hearts of marketers by being great at what it does.

But where Mailchimp gains in additional features, it loses out in price if you're just looking for an affordable but highly functional tool.

That being said, and this is an important point, Mailchimp has a freemium model that is ideal for new businesses. The free version of the platform allows you to use Mailchimp for free forever. As you might expect, the freemium model has significant limitations, such as sending only 10,000 emails per month. And you won't get basic features, like A/B testing and the model gallery, unless you upgrade to the Essentials plan. So Mailchimp is more expensive than Moosend Pro.

Mailchimp also doesn't have weather-based recommendations. If you run an online store, this Moosend feature is incredibly cool. But if you have a different target and need more technical features, Mailchimp might be a better option. Provided, of course, that you have the necessary budget.

2. MailerLite

Next on the comparison list in our Moosend review is MailerLite, another great email marketing tool. MailerLite hasn't been around as long as Mailchimp, but it has captured a lot of hearts. Similar in the features offered, MailerLite is virtually unbeatable in its simplicity. Anyone can use MailerLite because it is very functional and extremely easy to use.

Like Mailchimp, MailerLite also offers a freemium model that is slightly better than Mailchimp's. For small businesses, that may be enough to get started. But keep in mind that you won't benefit from custom branding and that all of your emails will have a large MailerLite logo at the bottom of the page unless you upgrade.

MailerLite comes with amazing features, integrations, and an open API to help you grow. And compared to Moosend, there's not a big price difference. If you pay monthly, MailerLite is a bit more expensive than Moosend, but over the whole year, it's very tight.

For e-commerce businesses, MailerLite also doesn't have weather-based customization. It's the coolest joker in Moosend's arsenal.

MailerLite has a great email block for surveys - these can be used to measure customer satisfaction or help you further personalize your site. Moosend offers something similar, but not as customizable.

Comparing the overall experience, features, and prices, MailerLite is probably the closest to Moosend among the 3 alternatives we mention in this Moosend review. So if you're ready to pay a few more dollars for a smoother and richer email marketing experience, go with MailerLite. If you are satisfied with a quality tool that is more affordable, but still does its job well, Moosend is the best tool for you.

3. ActiveCampaign.

Finally, we couldn't finish this Moosend review without mentioning ActiveCampaign.

Similar to Mailchimp in terms of popularity, ActiveCampaign has been around since 2003 and has put its years of experience into developing one of the most advanced marketing automation platforms on the market.

ActiveCampaign isn't the easiest email marketing solution to use, or comparable in terms of price, for that matter. It's very complex and costs more, but if you want to make sure you're making the right decision, you need to look at all the levels of tools available.

Compared to Moosend, ActiveCampaign offers multiple levels of automation - evaluating customers and prospects, automation maps, integrating Facebook ads, integrating Facebook ads, predictive content and sending, and more.

What's unique about ActiveCampaign is that it's a comprehensive marketing and sales platform that goes beyond email communication.

ActiveCampaign has integrated SMS and text messaging solutions to help reach and convert customers in more ways than one. Another important feature of ActiveCampaign is sending messages to the site when customers visit your website. To a certain extent, this eliminates the need for annoying pop-ups.
